Positive and Negative Numbers. The student will:

•  Add, subtract, multiply and divide positive and negative numbers without a calculator,
•  Apply the rules for Order of operations
•  Solve numerical operations using estimation
•  Solve real life problems
  Number Theory. The student will:
•  Calculate the square and square root of numbers
•  Calculate the cube and cube root of numbers
•  Understand the concept and apply index notation
•  Recognize and use multiples to find the lowest common multiple LCM
•  Recognize factors and use them to calculate the highest common factor HCF
•  Recognize and understand prime numbers
•  Know how to find prime factors using factor trees
•  Know and applie the divisibility tests

ecimal Numbers. The student will:

•  Understand and know the place value of the digits within any number
•  Be able to compare and order decimals
•  Convert decimals to fractions
•  Round numbers to a given amount of decimal places
•  Add, subtract, multiply and divide decimals
•  Understand and solve real life problems involving decimals
