Aims/objetivos

The student will be able to:

  •   describe the approximate percentages of gases in pure air.
  •  know that air is a mixture and can be separated by fractional distillation.
  •  give the characteristics of the layers of the atmosphere and will tell where the ozone layer is found.
  •  express the abundance of the gases of the air in chart , % or fraction form and perform simple calculations.
  •  perform experiments to show which gas is involved in burning or rusting .
  •  perform the same experiment on inhaled and exhaled air.
  •  test for carbon dioxide and test for oxygen
  •  write formulas or gases of the air and will do pictorial representation.
  •  describe the fire triangle
  •  describe rusting and will study about its prevention
  •  Investigate the products of combustion of a candle.
  •  determine the factors that pollute the air
