Guiding question / pregunta guía

Are speed, velocity and acceleration related together. How does distance and displacement affect these variables

Area of Interaction/área de interacción

Environment and Homofaber. How will inventions tn transportation affect the environment and influence the cultural context?

Aims/objetivos

What are speed and acceleration? Scalars and Vectors. Use of graphs (displacement – time / speed – time)

Content/contenido

Students will be able to:

  •  define and calculate speed from total distance / total time,
  •  plot and interpret a speed / time graph,
  •  recognise from the shape of a speed / time graph when a body is (a) at rest (b) moving with constant speed (c) moving with changing speed,
  •  calculate the area under a speed/time graph to determine the distance travelled for motion with constant acceleration,
  •  demonstrate some understanding that acceleration is related to changing speed,
  •  state that acceleration of freefall for a body near the Earth is constant.
Summative task / evaluación final

End of unit assessments, internal assessment and practical assessments.
