Are all cognitive, technical or technological breakthroughs beneficial to mankind?
Area of Interaction/área de interacción
Homo faber and health and social education
Aims/objetivos
Students will be able to:
Draw and interpret circuits containing sources, switches, resistors(all types), Lamps, ammeters, voltmeters, magnetising coils, transformers, bells, relays. Explain the differences between series and parallel circuits using 2 or more resistors. Calculate total resistance in a series and parallel circuit. Describe the use of electricity in lighting, heating and motors. Show an understanding of the uses of fuses and circuit breakers. State the hazards of damaged insulation, overheating of cables and damp conditions.
Content/contenido
Draw and interpret circuits containing diodes and rectifiers. Recall that the sum of the p.d’s is equal to the source in a series circuit. Recall that the sum of the currents in the branches is equal to the source of the current in a parallel circuit. Understand that the sum of resistors in a parallel circuit is less than either resistor itself and that the total current increases due to this. Ohms law and use the equation V = IR Use the equations P = IV and E = IVt.
