UMUN
Colegio Nueva Granada - Colegio Anglo Colombiano 2011
To all Prospective Participants of UMUN I, 2011 (CAC-MUN-CNG) In the name of the organizing and executive committee, it is our pleasure to officially announce the Union
MUN I (UMUN I) conference between Colegio Nueva Granada and Colegio Anglo Colombiano in its first edition 2011.
As part of the Model United Nations program, for more than seven years, we have learned to value the MUN community that has been developing in Colombia in the past years. With a total of 32 conferences of experience and more than 20 Best Delegate recognitions, we truly think that it is time for a change in the system of the
MUN program. We have been part of the MUN program in every possible way: from delegates to press officers and from co-presidents to General and Academic Directors.
This year we both knew that a change had to happen, and we seized our opportunity as Secretary Generals of our respective institutions to unite them both and create something iconic and pioneering. We are proud to be leading perhaps the most bonding, revolutionary, and unique experience in the history of
Model United Nations in Colombia. As creators to a conference between two prestigious schools of the country, we are glad to open our doors for what will promise to be a growth experience, both for our minds and spirit.
The entire objective of the
Union MUN between
CACMUN and
CNGMUN is to accomplish integration between the academic institutions. That is, with UMUN we intend to extrapolate the best characteristics of both conferences and unite them in ONE. As Secretary Generals of
UMUN, it is our most sincere intention to provide all participating High Schools, Universities, Students, and Sponsors a new vision of what we think the
Model United Nations should be as a life changing experience.
First and foremost, we would like to thank and give a special recognition to all of our presidents, who since the first day we proposed the idea to create
UMUN, supported us unconditionally and made it possible to materialize the dream we had. It is because of presidents that this year´s conference will be an academic success, and without them the conference would not be the same.
Equally important, we would both like to publicly thank our MUN sponsor coordinators, which have been instrumental in the creation of the conference. Most importantly, we thank beforehand all of the delegates and participants of
UMUN, because essentially without them, there would be no conference at all. It is because of you that the model is made. After all,
MUN is by the delegates for the delegates and at the end of the day, it is them who can extrapolate the most out of the experience.
We will be hosting our conference in a variety of settings around Bogota, Colombia, which will provide the conference scenery from both institutions (
Nueva Granada and Anglo Colombiano). Participating students from other cities and countries will be offered different hotels we think are most suitable in terms of location and transportation, all with the purpose of taking as much as possible out of our beautiful city and campus installations.
Without further a due, we both hope to count with your support in this new experience and we welcome you all to the first session of the Union Model of the United Nations
CACMUNCNG (
UMUN I) conference of 2011.
Sincerely,
Valentina Gutierrez and Nicolas Zuleta
